Never indulgent and always disarming, Space Cadet is a fun power-pop journey that will entertain everyone.” – Pop Matters

“Roberts has amassed a spectacular body of work in the family-music sphere.
And his latest – Space Cadet – is one of his very best.” – – Morgan Enos, Grammy.com

On July 15th, 2022, I released, Space Cadet, my 16th album of original music for kids and families. It was so exciting to get back into the studio after all the isolation to perform with my amazing band, the Not Ready for Naptime Players and so many special guests. There are songs about the joys and struggles of being a unicorn, the love and friendship that is always around us, and how being a spaced out space cadet has it’s advantages too. Hope you’ll give it a listen.

Thank you for your consideration!

About

For nearly 25 years, Justin Roberts has been writing songs for kids and families that explore the rich tapestry of childhood experience. From the butterflies of a first day to the distracted thoughts of a little leaguer, Justin has written songs that touch upon the laughs, beauty, and the bumps in the road of childhood.

His latest album, Space Cadet, is a return to his power pop all-ages sound. Heavily inspired by his life as a new dad, the feel-good album offers themes of inclusion and acceptance that wind through emotionally intelligent songs. Roberts creates a welcoming space for children to celebrate their uniqueness and dance it all out. Alongside his epic five-piece rock band, The Not Ready for Naptime Players, Justin is joined by jazz horns, 80s synthesizers, soaring strings, harp, and plenty of hand clapping. Special guests include Pianist Lisa Kaplan (Eighth Blackbird), Vocalist Meagan McNeal (the Voice), Vocalist Nora O’Connor (Flat Five, the Decemberists), Keyboardist Christian Matthew Cullen (Night Ranger, Alan Parsons), Jazz Vibraphonist Jason Adasiewicz, and many others, this rocking and reflective collection of songs encourages everyone to put down their distractions and have a rocking family dance party in the living room.

The album was recorded at VSOP Studios in Chicago by Matt Hennessy mixed by Liam Davis, and Mastered by Emily Lazar and Chris Allgood at the Lodge, NY
